One thing I used to like to do on spare time was play Texas Hold’em Poker. For those of you unfamiliar with the game it’s pretty much all luck and maybe a little bit of strategy. It can be a very addicting game as well as frustrating if you don’t get dealt the cards you are looking for.
You first get dealt two cards and you can choose to check, call, fold, or bet. If you’re still in through that point you will see a “flop” in the middle of the board. Then you go through the whole check, call, fold bet thing again. The rank of hands starting with the highest is a royal flush, straight flush, four of a kind, full house, flush, straight, three of a kind, two pair, one pair, and high card.
I started playing poker with my friends probably in like 6th grade. Back then it was like the thing to do and we would do it almost every night. We never played anything to big, it was usually like a dollar to 5 dollar buy-ins. We all stopped playing poker during our freshman year in high school.
During this last current summer I was at one of my friend’s house and he was playing poker online for money. I thought it was one of the coolest things so I signed up for it as well. The minimum deposit you could put into your little account was 50 dollars. So I put in 50 and ended up losing it all. A month or two later I put in about 50 more, and what do you know, lost that to (haha). Just recently I put in another 50 and played some big tournaments and ended up winning like 200 dollars.
I built up way to much confidence and was joining poker tournaments with a buy in of about 30 dollars. A lost a lot of them and I am now back to like 30 dollars. I haven’t played in for about a month. I think those things are evil because they take your money and its hard to judge when to cash in your money that you have earned. I guess I learned it the hard way. L
